Dabran Platform participated in an international conference in Beirut, Lebanon, organised by the "Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme” (Paris) and the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut on June 20, 21, and 22, 2018.

On June 21, Mala Bakhtiar, Chief of Executive Body of PUK Political Bureau and President of the Dabran Platform, Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan opened the conference with an introduction.

The three days International Panel on Exiting Violence (IPEV) conference in Beirut was an opportunity for several roundtables, panel discussions and conferences with outstanding speakers from the panel, from the American University of Beirut and from all over the world.

The focus of the conference was on the Middle Eastern context, with a comparative perspective that looked at processes of entering and exiting violence in Africa, Latin America, Europe, and elsewhere. Panel members had already presented their work in Paris, Tunisia, Sulaymaniyah, Washington, and New York.

Furthermore, the Beirut conference was an opportunity to present the results of the IPEV in addition to the recommendations of the working groups, and to discuss them in the presence of experts and political actors. The preparation of the final report of the IPEV took into account the exchanges and analyses developed during the conference.

IPEV was launched in 2016. It brought together more than 100 international interdisciplinary researchers, consisting of ten working groups. The Panel aspired to make of exiting violence a new field of research integrating all levels of analysis, from individual to collective, and from local to global levels. The results were presented in a report with recommendations to the world of sciences, and to the political, economic, and social actors.
